What is Ragas?
Ragas is an open-source Python framework for evaluating retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and LLM agents. It provides metrics such as faithfulness, context precision and answer relevance, and can generate synthetic test sets from your documents.
Ragas grew out of a 2023 research paper on reference-free RAG evaluation and is widely used in CI pipelines to catch quality drops. It integrates with LangChain, LlamaIndex and observability tools.
Originally created under the Exploding Gradients organization, it is now maintained by Vibrant Labs. The library is free under the Apache 2.0 license.
