What is Backstory?
Backstory captures emails, meetings and calls from sales teams and matches them to accounts and opportunities in the CRM. Enterprise revenue leaders use its SalesAI platform for pipeline visibility, forecasting and deal inspection.
People.ai renamed itself Backstory in April 2026. The product, customer accounts and integrations carried over, and people.ai now redirects to backstory.ai.
Automatic activity capture fills gaps in Salesforce and Dynamics, and AI scores engagement and deal risk. Account plans and meeting prep are generated from that data. An MCP integration released in 2026 lets AI assistants such as Claude and Copilot query Backstory's revenue data directly.
