What is Powabase?
Powabase is a Supabase-style backend where each project gets its own Postgres database, auth, storage and compute, plus a RAG pipeline that indexes documents on upload and built-in agents. It is meant for developers building AI apps, including those working through coding agents.
Documents go through OCR and one of four indexing strategies, and retrieval supports vector, BM25, hybrid and tree search with reranking. Agents, multi-agent orchestrations and workflows can call built-in tools, custom HTTP endpoints or MCP servers, all behind one REST API.
A Powabase skill and MCP server let Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and OpenCode set up the backend, and there are guides for Replit, Lovable, v0, Base44 and Bolt.new. A self-hosted edition is free and open source, and the managed cloud starts free with usage billing.
