GitButler
FreemiumGit client and CLI designed to work well with AI coding agents
What is GitButler?
GitButler is a Git desktop client and CLI that adds stacked and parallel branches, unlimited undo and simpler history editing on top of any Git repository. It is built for both developers and AI coding agents, with structured output and predictable commands agents can use.
Parallel branches let you work on several features at once without switching, while stacked branches build changes on top of each other and land as separate pull requests. You can move changes between commits, absorb fixes into earlier commits, reorder history and undo any operation, even after committing.
The But CLI offers a JSON output mode and idempotent commands that are safe for agents to retry, and agent skills teach coding agents how to use it. GitButler layers onto existing repositories and remotes with no extra configuration, and its source code is public.
