Aider
FreeOpen-source AI pair programming in your terminal
What is Aider?
Aider is an open-source command-line tool that lets you pair program with LLMs on code in your local git repository. It edits files and commits each change with a clear message. It works with Claude, GPT, DeepSeek, local models and many others.
Aider builds a map of your repository so the model sees the most relevant code, and its architect mode lets one model plan while another edits. Every change is an atomic git commit, so you can undo with normal git commands. The project is now in maintenance mode, with occasional patch releases.
