Docent
Free trial · $79/moDocumentation platform with an AI chat agent that answers from your docs
What is Docent?
Docent is a documentation tool for help centers, API references and internal knowledge, with an AI agent that answers website visitors using only your published articles. It also formats pages so AI search engines can read and cite them.
You write in a block editor or Markdown with drafts and version history, and can import from WordPress, HubSpot, Freshdesk and HelpDocs.io. Each article is published as clean HTML, Markdown and chunked JSON, with an llms.txt file generated automatically and an MCP server that connects the docs to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot.
The Messenger widget answers questions with links to its sources and hands the chat to a person in a shared inbox when the docs fall short. Unanswered questions are collected in a report, so you can see which articles to write next. Messenger can also route chats to Slack and run on WhatsApp.
