What is Chatvia?
Chatvia is a self-hosted platform for building AI chat agents that answer from your documents, websites and Q&A pairs. Teams run it on their own server with any model and put the agents on a website, in Slack, WhatsApp or Teams, or behind a REST API.
Knowledge goes in as PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB, images, web pages or written Q&A. Chatvia chunks it and runs vector search and BM25 keyword search side by side inside PostgreSQL, then reranks the results, so there is no separate vector database to manage. Each agent gets a persona, guardrails and tools, tested in a playground.
Agents can call your own tools, such as an order lookup, hand a conversation over to a person and hold voice calls. Workspaces, roles, permissions and audit logs are built in. Running it on your own server is free with no cap on agents or replies, and a paid license unlocks extra workspaces, the API, voice and live chat.
