KommuAssist

KommuAssist is a plug-in module from Malaysian company Kommu that adds Level 2+ driver assistance to supported cars. It runs bukapilot, an open-source fork of openpilot, and is aimed at drivers of popular models from Perodua, Proton, Honda, Toyota, BYD and Lexus.

The KommuAssist 2 hardware uses a Rockchip RK3588 chip with a 6 TOPS neural processor and three automotive cameras, packed in a fanless aluminium unit that sits behind the rear-view mirror. It includes LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and pairs with the KommuAI app.

The end-to-end neural network handles steering and speed control, driver monitoring, slowing for curves and spotting traffic lights and speed bumps. The company says the model has more than 100 million miles of driving behind it and follows ISO 26262 and MISRA C practices. Units are sold through its store and installed by listed partners.
