InvokeAI is an open-source app for local image generation with a unified canvas, layers and a node-based workflow editor. It suits illustrators and concept artists who want a polished interface for Stable Diffusion, FLUX and newer models.
The canvas combines generation, inpainting, outpainting, regional prompts and control layers, so you can paint and generate in one place. A workflow editor builds reusable node pipelines and a model manager handles downloads.
The company behind it joined Adobe in October 2025 and closed its hosted service. The free Community Edition continues on GitHub under community maintenance.
