Gemini CLI
FreemiumGoogle's open-source terminal agent powered by Gemini models
What is Gemini CLI?
Gemini CLI is an open-source command-line agent from Google that runs Gemini models in your terminal. It can query and edit large codebases, build apps from images or PDFs and automate multi-step workflows, and it can be extended with community extensions.
You sign in with a Google account, a Gemini API key or Vertex AI, and each method has its own daily request limits, from 250 requests on the free API tier to 2,000 on Google AI Ultra. Pay-as-you-go API billing removes the daily caps for heavier use.
Google has moved unpaid and Google One users to Antigravity CLI as of June 2026, and newer models such as Gemini 4 Argon are aimed at Antigravity instead. Gemini CLI remains documented and available for the other sign-in methods, with an extensions gallery and a public changelog.
