What is Z.ai API?
The Z.ai API serves the GLM model family from Z.ai, formerly Zhipu AI, for chat, coding, vision and agent tasks. Developers use it directly or through GLM Coding Plan subscriptions that plug into tools such as Claude Code and Cline.
The API supports OpenAI-compatible calls, tool use, long context and a cheaper Flash variant for high-volume work. Coding Plans give a fixed monthly quota for supported coding agents instead of per-token billing.
GLM flagship weights are published on Hugging Face shortly after release, so the same models are also available from other inference providers and can be self-hosted on your own GPUs.
