What is Jua?
Jua builds EPT-2, a family of AI weather models, and Athena, an agent that turns those forecasts into decisions for energy trading. Its customers are utilities, power traders and hedge funds that need wind, solar and temperature forecasts.
EPT-2 runs globally at hourly resolution in deterministic, ensemble, rapid-refresh and high-resolution versions, updated up to 24 times a day, with ensembles out to 60 days and power output forecasts in megawatts for wind and solar sites. Jua reports that it beats ECMWF's HRES model on wind, temperature and solar radiation over a 10-day range, and its research has appeared at ICLR and NeurIPS.
Athena sits on top of the forecasts and helps energy traders act on them. Access is sold to companies after a demo, and model documentation and a technical report are public.
