What is Jina AI?
Jina AI builds search foundation models, including multilingual and multimodal embeddings, rerankers and a reader API that turns web pages into clean text for LLMs. Elastic acquired the company in October 2025, and its APIs remain available.
The embedding models handle text, images and code across many languages, and the rerankers improve result ordering in RAG pipelines. The Reader and Search APIs fetch and clean web content for use in prompts.
New users get a free token allowance, then usage is billed per token. Most models are also on Hugging Face, run natively inside Elasticsearch and ship as offline containers for on-premises use.
