What is BookLed?
BookLed is a hardcover paper book with built-in electronics that detects which page a child is reading and passes it to a generative AI, which recites the story in many different ways. It is meant for parents and educators exploring interactive reading.
Magnets in the thick card pages let a sensor identify the current page and notice page turns. That information drives light and sound effects and prompts the AI to produce a new telling of the content.
The book is sold through Tindie, with a wiki for setup and the code published on GitHub, so makers can experiment with their own storytelling ideas. Books use AI-generated Robotoons content.
