What is Arena?
Arena, formerly LMArena and LMSYS Chatbot Arena, ranks AI models by asking people to compare two anonymous answers and pick the better one. Its public leaderboards are widely cited when new models launch, and anyone can chat with models for free.
Separate leaderboards cover text, coding, vision, image generation, video and web development, with Elo-style scores built from millions of pairwise votes. Labs often test unreleased models on Arena under code names.
The project began at UC Berkeley and was spun out as Arena Intelligence, which rebranded to Arena in January 2026. Using the site and viewing rankings is free.
