Waifu Labs creates custom anime-style character portraits by letting you pick from AI-generated options over four rounds until it matches your taste. It is free to use and aimed at anime fans who want an original character illustration.

You choose a starting portrait, then refine colors, details and pose across a few steps, and the neural network adjusts each new set of options to your choices. Version 2 added male characters and backgrounds alongside the original portraits.

It is made by Sizigi Studios, a small team of researchers and artists who also use the technology in games. Characters can be imported into their game Arrowmancer, and the team has also worked on niji・journey, the anime-focused model with Midjourney.
