Retext
FreemiumMac app for voice dictation, text snippets, autocomplete and notes
What is Retext?
Retext is a native macOS app that bundles voice dictation, a text expander, sentence autocomplete and voice notes. Processing happens on the Mac by default, and AI can write snippet text for you from a short description.
Snippets expand in any app where you type, from email and Slack to VS Code, and can include smart fields such as today's date, clipboard contents, fill-in prompts and cursor placement. They can be grouped with tags, and teams can share a snippet library.
Dictation lets you talk instead of typing, voice memos are turned into written notes, and autocomplete, still in beta, finishes sentences as you write. The app is written in Swift, needs macOS 26 or later and works without an account.
