What is Lumo?
Lumo is a privacy-first AI assistant from Proton, the Swiss company behind Proton Mail. Chat history is stored with zero-access encryption, Proton keeps no server logs, and conversations are never used to train models.
Lumo runs open-source models in Proton's European data centers. Version 2.0 in June 2026 added image generation, memory and better web search, and it can read files from Proton Drive.
You can use it without an account in a limited mode. Lumo Plus removes chat limits and adds larger uploads, and business plans add admin tools and are included in some Proton bundles.
