What is LiveKit?
LiveKit is an open-source framework and cloud platform for building, testing, deploying and monitoring voice, video and physical AI agents. OpenAI built ChatGPT's Advanced Voice on LiveKit Cloud.
The Agents framework in Python or Node.js wires together speech-to-text, an LLM and text-to-speech, with automatic turn detection and interruption handling. Starter apps bring agents to web and mobile, telephony lets them make and take phone calls, and LiveKit Inference gives access to many hosted models.
LiveKit Cloud deploys agents on a global realtime network, adds observability and simulations, and scales to millions of concurrent calls. Usage is billed per agent session minute plus model costs, and higher tiers add HIPAA, region pinning, private links and SSO.
