What is Homeway?
Homeway gives Home Assistant users secure remote access plus Sage, a voice and chat assistant that controls the home through Home Assistant Assist. It runs on models such as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini, and the core service is free for the community.
Sage can switch devices, answer questions and check the weather, with custom prompts and more than 80 ElevenLabs voices. Homeway also connects Home Assistant to Alexa and Google Home, and offers a free remote MCP server so Claude, ChatGPT or other AI clients can see and control your home.
Beyond AI, it handles remote access for the Home Assistant mobile apps without exposing your instance to the public internet, and streams cameras over end-to-end encrypted WebRTC using free STUN and TURN servers. Setup takes a few minutes from a Home Assistant add-on.
