CoCounsel Legal is Thomson Reuters' AI assistant for lawyers, combining research, document review and drafting with Westlaw case law and Practical Law guidance. It is aimed at law firms, corporate legal teams and law schools that already rely on those sources.
Lawyers can run deep research that returns cited answers, review and summarise documents, draft correspondence and prepare for depositions. Answers link back to Westlaw and Practical Law sources so users can check each authority before relying on it.
CoCounsel grew out of Casetext, which Thomson Reuters acquired in 2023, and a new generation with agentic workflows launched in August 2026. It is sold alongside Westlaw subscriptions, with pricing set through Thomson Reuters sales.
