What is Chiaro?
Chiaro is an iPhone travel guide: you photograph a painting, statue or building and it tells you out loud what it is, who made it and why it matters. Travellers can ask follow-up questions by voice or text in 18 languages.
Inside museums it goes into composition, symbolism and background, and outside it recognises bridges, towers and street murals without downloaded city packs. Questions about current events or opening hours are answered with a live web check, and place names are shown in both your language and the local one.
A map marks recommended sights nearby and pins every photo you take. Each evening the app writes a short story of your day, it can plan the next day with opening hours, weather and a rainy-day backup, and it sends a recap after each city. Free browser guides cover 80 museums and landmarks.
