What is CHARL-E?
CHARL-E packages Stable Diffusion into a simple Mac app so you can generate images from text prompts without Python or the command line. After the first download it runs entirely on your machine, with no images or prompts sent to a server.
The app downloads model weights automatically, or you can install a smaller build and point it at your own weights. Settings include the sampler, number of images, seed and output folder, and a gallery view collects everything you have generated.
It is a free, open-source project by Charlie Holtz with code on GitHub. It requires an Apple silicon Mac with an M1 or M2 chip, and generation speed depends on your hardware.
