You upload a song, wait on the download page while it is processed and then save the isolated vocals. Songs can be up to 10 minutes long and 80MB, and the free service allows two songs a day to keep its servers from overloading.
A sister site, remove-vocals, does the opposite and keeps only the instrumental. The service runs on donations, offers example tracks so you can judge the quality first, and is available in English, French and Spanish.
