Talpa Search

Talpa Search is a book discovery engine from LibraryThing that understands loose descriptions, half-remembered plots and opening lines. It also searches movies and music and can find books by what their covers look like.

You can type queries like a plot summary, a genre with a twist, or a famous first line, and it returns matching titles. A separate cover search combines a subject with a color, which helps when you remember how a book looked but not its name.

Visitors get a limited number of free searches before signing in, and a pricing page exists for heavier use. It is made by the team behind LibraryThing, the long-running book cataloging site.
