PyGPT is a free, open-source desktop assistant for Windows, macOS and Linux that connects to cloud models from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI and DeepSeek, or to local models through Ollama. It is aimed at power users who want chat, agents and tools in one app.
Work modes include chat, agents, realtime voice, research, image and video generation, computer use and autonomous runs. Multi-agent workflows support orchestrator and swarm setups, and portable Agent Skills plus AGENTS.md rules shape behavior per project.
LlamaIndex-based RAG indexes files, web pages, media and past conversations, and built-in Python, IPython and system tools run in a sandbox or Docker. A plugin system and MCP connectors add web search, GitHub, Slack, Telegram, Google services and more, and it can be installed from PyPI or as an AppImage.
