GRID
Free trialSpreadsheet engine that lets AI agents read and edit Excel files
What is GRID?
GRID is a spreadsheet engine developers embed in their products so AI agents can calculate, read and edit workbooks directly instead of generating code. It also ships a ready-made spreadsheet UI for when people need to view or change the data.
The engine installs from npm and can be added to agents as an MCP server or through installable skills, for example to build a React app with an editable spreadsheet beside a chat panel. Users can drop in an .xlsx file, ask the assistant to change it and download the result.
GRID says agents using the engine respond up to twice as fast and use about a third of the tokens compared with writing code to process spreadsheets. A free evaluation license covers development, with a commercial license needed when you ship.
