What is Criticly?
Criticly is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that analyses whatever text you highlight in another app. It explains what the text means, judges whether to trust it, suggests questions to ask and offers the strongest counterpoint.
Select text in Word, Outlook, Gmail, Chrome, Slack, Notion, VS Code, Obsidian or other apps and press a shortcut to open a bar with tools named interpret, assess, question, counter and reframe. A Learn mode turns the text into a quiz.
You can create custom tools to translate, rewrite or apply your own prompts, and pin favourites to the selection bar. The site also offers free web tools such as an argument analyzer and fallacy detector, and Criticly says it never stores your text.
