Botan
FreemiumPlant identifier app that also diagnoses diseases from photos
What is Botan?
Botan identifies plants from a photo and can spot diseases or care problems such as overwatering from pictures of the damaged leaves. It then gives a step-by-step treatment and care plan, aimed at home gardeners and houseplant owners.
Identification takes a few seconds and also shows toxicity, including whether a plant is harmful to pets, plus basic care tips. For sick plants you take one photo of the whole plant and two of the affected parts, and the app proposes a cause and a recovery schedule for watering, feeding and pruning.
A searchable library covers more than 30,000 species grouped by type, from houseplants and succulents to trees and ferns. If the automatic answer is not enough you can message a botanist through live chat, and a web version lets you upload a photo without installing the app.
