Barside
FreeFree local-first desktop app for notes, tasks, meetings and AI agents
What is Barside?
Barside is a free desktop workspace that combines notes, tasks, a reading inbox, screen recording, call transcription and an AI assistant. It runs locally on Windows and Linux, with a Mac beta, and aims to replace a stack of separate subscriptions.
Notes support linking with double brackets, a note map, Excalidraw drawings, templates and reminders, and every checklist item lands on one task board. You can import from Notion, Obsidian, Evernote or OneNote and see Google or Outlook calendars beside your notes.
The AI assistant edits and organizes notes on request and shows each step. Agents run on a schedule, after a call or on a research question, and their actions wait in an approval inbox. AI search answers questions across notes, transcripts, saved pages and screenshots with sources.
