Azure Vision
FreemiumMicrosoft cloud APIs for image analysis and text extraction (OCR)
What is Azure Vision?
Azure Vision in Foundry Tools, previously called Azure AI Vision and Computer Vision, is Microsoft's set of cloud APIs for analyzing images and reading text in them. Developers call it to tag and caption photos, detect objects and extract printed or handwritten text.
The Image Analysis API returns captions, tags, detected objects and people, and smart crop suggestions, while the Read OCR service pulls text from photos and scanned documents in many languages. Results come back as JSON through REST endpoints or the Azure SDKs.
The service sits inside Microsoft Foundry alongside Azure OpenAI and Azure Speech, so it can feed agents and apps built on the same platform. Billing is per transaction through an Azure subscription, with a limited free tier for testing.
